lotus
Order early as many varieties sell out quickly.

Available March through May only.

All lotus need full sun.

The lotus plants have the most hardiness to Zone 3.

All plants come as bare roots.

When planting, a dwarf needs 1" to 3" of water over the crown, a semi dwarf size plant needs 3" to 4" of water over the crown and a full size plant needs 4" to 6" over the crown. On average plant with 4" to 12" of water over the crown.
hardy water lilies
Blooms from May to September.  All water lilies need part sun to full sun.  All plants come as bare roots.  When planting, a dwarf needs 6" to 8" of water over the crown and a full size plant needs 12" to 24" of water over the crown.

Hardy water lilies will overwinter in all USDA hardiness zones.  They are potted and placed 1-2" below the water's surface.  They bloom from Spring to Fall and go dormant in the winter.  The colors of the flowers are red, white, yellow, pink, and peach.  There are several sizes of lilies, including dwarf varieties good for patio ponds.
tropical water lilies
Tropical water lilies are available as day bloomers and night bloomers (very fragrant).  Most varieties need full sun and only bloom when temperatures are above 80 degrees.  They have blooms in red, white, pink, blue, and purple.  Even though they will only overwinter in zones 9 and 10, they grow well during the summer in all zones (but are to be treated as an annual).
water iris
All Iris need full sun or part sun.

Water Iris are a type of bog plant that will grow anywhere with moist soil.  They can be planted in a marshy area, in the top of most waterfall filters, or in pots in the pond.  The blooms are more delicate than a bearded iris.  They are available in yellow, white, blue, wine, and purple.
marginal + bog plants
When planting these plants use 0" to 6" of water over the crown unless otherwise noted.

Marginal plants are shallow water plants that live in very moist soil or in pots in the pond with the crown at or just below the water's surface.  These plants usually make up the majority of most garden pond plant populations.  Some favorites are pickerel rush, water clover, parrot feather, water mint, and cattails.
lily-like aquatics
All plants come as bare roots.

When planting, generally place plant with 6" to 12" of water over the crown. For larger varieties place plant with 6" to 24" of water over the crown.
floating plants
These plants are not recommended to be planted.

Water Hyacinth, Watter Lettuce and Frog's Bit are most efficient at removing excess nutrients from the pond when used in biological filters, natural filters, streams and/or areas of moving water. Light shade will improve their growth and vigor.
submerged plants
These plants are recommended to be planted at the bottom of the pond.

Bunched plants should be planted in small containers of gravel or sand only. Example--six bunches per 8" x 5" container or ten bunches per 10" x 6" container.

Reef plants soften the appearance of the pond bottom while promoting a health pond environment. Oxygenators, or submerged aquatic grasses, are fully rooted in fiber mat material forming a reef like module that is weighted with a ballast stone. In gravel bottom ponds, reefs can be anchored in gravel. In all ponds, reefs settle to the bottom and plant roots spread naturally amid the gravel and/or sediment. Just drop them into the pond--they're ready to grow!!
island plants + planters
The plants listed in this section grow very well in the islands, but do not fare well in deeper pond water.

All plants are sold as bare roots.
edible plants
When planting these plants use 0" to 6" of water over the crown unless otherwise noted.

The plants listed here are edible and can easily be grown in your own pond. There is a tremendous potential for food production from boggy areas. Most of these plants are marginals. Marginal plants are shallow water plants that live in very moist soil or in pots in the pond with the crown at or just below the water's surface.
